Early Years Foundation Programme
The EYFS framework is the statutory framework in the UK and has been carefully adapted to suit the needs of our international community of children.
Learning does not begin and end at school. The EYFS framework can continue at home and in the wider environment. Encourage your children to play, explore and ask questions about the world around them. Ask them questions, encourage them to solve problems and to be independent in their learning, whilst showing an interest in their inquisitive minds.
Children at our school will mostly be taught through games and play. The Early Years department is the youngest part of the British School of Tirana and has been providing early years education and care since 2016.
Our curriculum is based on the Foundation Stage Curriculum of England and Wales.
The areas of learning are:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Every group is supported by an English teacher or Teaching Assistant and Albanian teachers. This combination provides the best of all systems enabling us to provide a British-based bilingual education.
The British Nursery School site houses the Babies, Toddler, Nursery and Reception groups. The children are aged from 1 to 5 years. The building is in the heart of the Rezidenca Kodra e Diellit. Attached to the building are two spacious outdoor play areas, used for educational activities. The nursery day begins at 07:30 and finishes at 17:30 ( also operates on Saturday as day care frm 08:00 – 13:00) Our Year 1 group (age 5 to 6), is based at our Primary School at Kodra e Diellit 2.
